Carlo Baccigalupi
Astrophysicist, professor at SISSA, participant of Euclid project (Italy)
Carlo Baccigalupi is a professor of astrophysics and cosmology at SISSA in Trieste, Italy, where he leads the Astrophysics and Cosmology Group. His research explores the origins and structure of the Universe, from the cosmic microwave background to dark matter and dark energy, combining theoretical physics with advanced data science methods. He has been deeply involved in major international collaborations such as the Planck Satellite, Euclid, and the Simons Observatory, which are pushing the boundaries of our understanding of the cosmos.
Beyond his scientific achievements, Carlo has a strong commitment to international cooperation and education. He has supervised dozens of young researchers who now hold academic positions worldwide, and he regularly speaks at global conferences and schools. He is also active in science outreach, bringing the excitement of cosmology to the wider public. His work bridges the worlds of cutting-edge science, data, and society, showing how our exploration of the Universe is also a story of human collaboration and curiosity.
